Prepare for the UPSC Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination 2026 with StudyHub’s CDS Test Series 2026, featuring 53 total contents across English, General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics and CDS Previous Year Papers.

If your goal is to join the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Air Force Academy (AFA) or Officers’ Training Academy (OTA), strong preparation for the UPSC CDS written examination is essential. The StudyHub CDS Test Series 2026 is built to help you practise these core subjects through full-length mock tests and previous-year-paper-based tests. Instead of limiting your preparation to reading books and notes, the course provides a dedicated environment for repeated question practice, speed improvement, accuracy improvement, revision and examination simulation.

What Is the UPSC CDS Test Series 2026?

The UPSC CDS Test Series 2026 is an online mock-test program designed to help defence-exam aspirants practise the written examination for the Combined Defence Services Examination.

The CDS written examination is objective in nature and requires candidates to answer a large number of questions within fixed time limits. UPSC also applies negative marking for incorrect answers, making both speed and accuracy important.

That is why regular mock-test practice should become a part of your CDS preparation from an early stage.

With StudyHub’s CDS Test Series, you can repeatedly practise:

  • English
  • General Knowledge
  • Elementary Mathematics
  • Previous Year Questions
  • Full-length examination-style papers

The objective is not simply to take tests. The objective is to improve your performance from one test to the next.

How Many Tests Are Included in the CDS Test Series 2026?

The current course contains 53 test contents in total. The live curriculum is divided into four chapters: Elementary Mathematics Full Length Tests, English Mock Full Length Tests, General Knowledge Mock Full Length Tests and CDS Previous Year Papers (PYPs) Test Series.

Chapter / Section Number of Tests
UPSC CDS Elementary Mathematics Full Length Tests 11
UPSC CDS English Mock Full Length Tests 11
UPSC CDS General Knowledge Mock Full Length Tests 11
CDS Previous Year Papers (Elementary Mathematics) 20
Total 53

This makes the course particularly useful for candidates who want separate practice in the three written-examination subjects while also solving actual previous-year Mathematics papers.

UPSC CDS Elementary Mathematics Mock Tests

The current course contains 11 Elementary Mathematics full-length mock tests.

  • UPSC CDS Elementary Mathematics Mock 01
  • UPSC CDS Elementary Mathematics Mock 02
  • UPSC CDS Elementary Mathematics Mock 03
  • UPSC CDS Elementary Mathematics Mock 04
  • UPSC CDS Elementary Mathematics Mock 05
  • UPSC CDS Elementary Mathematics Mock 06
  • UPSC CDS Elementary Mathematics Mock 07
  • UPSC CDS Elementary Mathematics Mock 08
  • UPSC CDS Elementary Mathematics Mock 09
  • UPSC CDS Elementary Mathematics Mock 10
  • UPSC CDS Elementary Mathematics Mock 11

These tests are useful for candidates appearing for IMA, INA and AFA because Elementary Mathematics is one of the three written papers for those academies. UPSC specifies that the standard of Elementary Mathematics is at approximately the Matriculation level.

UPSC CDS English Mock Tests

The course includes 11 English full-length mock tests.

  • UPSC CDS English Mock 01
  • UPSC CDS English Mock 02
  • UPSC CDS English Mock 03
  • UPSC CDS English Mock 04
  • UPSC CDS English Mock 05
  • UPSC CDS English Mock 06
  • UPSC CDS English Mock 07
  • UPSC CDS English Mock 08
  • UPSC CDS English Mock 09
  • UPSC CDS English Mock 10
  • UPSC CDS English Mock 11

English is compulsory in the written examination for both IMA/INA/AFA and OTA. UPSC states that the English paper is designed to test candidates’ understanding of English and their effective use of words.

UPSC CDS General Knowledge Mock Tests

The current course also contains 11 General Knowledge full-length mock tests.

  • UPSC CDS General Knowledge Mock 01
  • UPSC CDS General Knowledge Mock 02
  • UPSC CDS General Knowledge Mock 03
  • UPSC CDS General Knowledge Mock 04
  • UPSC CDS General Knowledge Mock 05
  • UPSC CDS General Knowledge Mock 06
  • UPSC CDS General Knowledge Mock 07
  • UPSC CDS General Knowledge Mock 08
  • UPSC CDS General Knowledge Mock 09
  • UPSC CDS General Knowledge Mock 10
  • UPSC CDS General Knowledge Mock 11

General Knowledge is compulsory for all CDS written-exam candidates, including candidates targeting OTA. UPSC describes the paper as including current events, everyday scientific awareness, Indian history and geography at the level expected of an educated person without specialised scientific study.

CDS Previous Year Papers (PYPs) Test Series

The course contains 20 Previous Year Paper tests based on CDS Elementary Mathematics papers. These are available in both English and Hindi versions for the listed years and examinations.

The current curriculum includes:

Official Paper Language Versions
CDS Elementary Mathematics – 1 September 2024 English + Hindi
CDS Elementary Mathematics – 3 September 2023 English + Hindi
CDS Elementary Mathematics – 4 September 2022 English + Hindi
CDS Elementary Mathematics – 7 February 2021 English + Hindi
CDS Elementary Mathematics – 10 April 2022 English + Hindi
CDS Elementary Mathematics – 14 November 2021 English + Hindi
CDS Elementary Mathematics – 16 April 2023 English + Hindi
CDS Elementary Mathematics – 21 April 2024 English + Hindi
CDS-II 2025 Elementary Mathematics – 14 September 2025 English + Hindi
CDS-I 2025 Elementary Mathematics – 13 April 2025 English + Hindi

That gives 10 listed official-paper sets × 2 language versions = 20 PYP tests. All of these individual entries are visible in the current StudyHub curriculum.

Previous-year papers are particularly valuable because they allow candidates to understand the actual style of UPSC questions rather than relying only on newly created practice questions. UPSC also officially publishes CDS question papers on its Previous Question Papers portal.

UPSC CDS 2026 Exam Pattern

The CDS written examination pattern depends on the academy/course for which the candidate is appearing.

For IMA, INA and AFA

Paper Maximum Marks Duration
English 100 2 Hours
General Knowledge 100 2 Hours
Elementary Mathematics 100 2 Hours
Total Written 300 6 Hours

For OTA

Paper Maximum Marks Duration
English 100 2 Hours
General Knowledge 100 2 Hours
Total Written 200 4 Hours

These marks and durations are specified in the current UPSC CDS-II 2026 notification. UPSC also states that all written papers are objective type.

CDS Negative Marking 2026

CDS has negative marking for incorrect answers. UPSC's current CDS-II 2026 notification states that one-third (0.33) of the marks assigned to a question is deducted for a wrong answer. If a candidate marks more than one answer for a question, it is treated as a wrong answer and the same penalty applies. A question left blank does not attract a penalty.

This makes accuracy extremely important.

For example, blindly attempting questions simply to increase the attempt count can reduce your final score. Your mock-test strategy should therefore focus on accuracy + speed + intelligent question selection.

CDS Question Paper Language

UPSC sets the General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics question papers bilingually in Hindi and English. The English paper is conducted in English.

This makes the bilingual availability of the Mathematics PYP tests in the StudyHub curriculum particularly useful for candidates who want to practise the paper in either available language version.

CDS English Syllabus – What Should You Practise?

The CDS English paper is designed to test understanding of English and the effective use of words.

Your preparation should therefore include regular practice of:

  • Grammar
  • Vocabulary
  • Sentence usage
  • Comprehension
  • Synonyms and antonyms
  • Error detection
  • Sentence improvement
  • Ordering and arrangement
  • Fill-in-the-blanks
  • Context-based vocabulary

The best way to improve English performance is consistent question practice combined with revision of recurring mistakes.

CDS General Knowledge Syllabus

CDS General Knowledge covers broad awareness rather than specialised academic knowledge.

According to the current UPSC syllabus, the GK paper includes current events and questions related to everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects, along with Indian history and geography.

A practical preparation strategy should therefore include:

  • Current Affairs
  • Indian History
  • Indian Geography
  • Basic General Science
  • Defence-related awareness
  • Important national and international events
  • Basic polity and economy awareness
  • Static General Knowledge

Because General Knowledge is broad, frequent mock-test practice is particularly valuable for identifying the areas where your preparation needs improvement.

CDS Elementary Mathematics Syllabus

The Elementary Mathematics paper is based on the Matriculation standard prescribed by UPSC.

Important areas listed in the UPSC syllabus include:

Arithmetic

Number systems, fundamental operations, decimal fractions, unitary method, time and distance, time and work, percentages, simple and compound interest, profit and loss, ratio and proportion and variation.

Elementary Number Theory

Division algorithm, prime and composite numbers, divisibility tests, factors, HCF, LCM, Euclidean algorithm and logarithms.

Algebra

Basic operations, factors, remainder theorem, polynomials, quadratic equations, simultaneous linear equations and inequations, sets, rational expressions and laws of indices.

Trigonometry

Basic trigonometric ratios, standard values, simple identities, trigonometric tables and heights and distances.

Geometry

Lines and angles, triangles, congruency, similarity, parallelograms, rectangles, squares, circles, tangents and loci.

Mensuration

Areas and volumes of common geometrical figures including squares, rectangles, triangles, circles, cuboids, cones, cylinders and spheres.

Statistics

Collection and tabulation of data, graphical representation and measures of central tendency.

How the CDS Test Series Helps You

1. Improves Speed

Regular timed tests help you become faster at recognising and solving familiar question types.

2. Improves Accuracy

Repeated practice helps reduce careless mistakes and improves your understanding of when to attempt a question.

3. Builds Time Management

Each CDS written paper has a fixed two-hour duration, so time management has to be practised before the examination.

4. Helps With Negative Marking

Mock tests allow you to develop an appropriate attempt strategy for a paper with one-third negative marking for wrong answers.

5. Identifies Weak Areas

A mock-test result shows which subjects and question types require additional revision.

6. Makes Full Papers Familiar

Repeated full-length practice reduces the unfamiliarity of solving an entire CDS paper under time pressure.

7. Supports Previous-Year Analysis

Official-paper practice helps you understand the style and level of actual UPSC questions.

How to Use the CDS Test Series Effectively

Use every test as a learning opportunity rather than simply recording the score.

Step 1 – Study the Syllabus

Divide your preparation into English, General Knowledge and, where applicable, Elementary Mathematics.

Step 2 – Build Topic Knowledge

Study the relevant concepts from your books, classes, notes and other preparation resources.

Step 3 – Attempt a Mock Test

Take the test under timed conditions without using external help.

Step 4 – Analyse Every Mistake

Review incorrect answers, guessed answers and questions that consumed excessive time.

Step 5 – Maintain an Error Log

Record recurring mistakes and difficult concepts.

Step 6 – Revise

Return to the relevant chapter or concept and revise it.

Step 7 – Solve Previous-Year Papers

Use the included PYP tests to understand real UPSC question patterns.

Step 8 – Attempt Full-Length Tests

Gradually increase the number of full-paper simulations as the examination approaches.

CDS Preparation Strategy for IMA, INA and AFA

Candidates targeting IMA, INA or AFA need to prepare all three written subjects: English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics.

A balanced strategy is essential because neglecting one paper can reduce the overall written-examination performance.

Use the 11 English mocks, 11 GK mocks and 11 Mathematics mocks as repeated opportunities to identify subject-wise weaknesses. Combine these with the available Mathematics PYP tests for additional examination-oriented practice.

CDS Preparation Strategy for OTA

OTA candidates appear for English and General Knowledge and do not have the Elementary Mathematics paper.

For OTA-focused preparation, give particular attention to the English and GK mock sections in this course. The Mathematics tests and Mathematics PYP resources are relevant to IMA/INA/AFA candidates and can be skipped when they do not apply to your chosen OTA pathway.

CDS Mock Test Strategy

Your mock-test strategy should change as your preparation improves.

Early Preparation

Use mock tests to establish your baseline score and identify major weaknesses.

Middle Preparation

Use tests regularly while revising difficult topics and improving accuracy.

Revision Phase

Increase your full-length test frequency and start treating each test as a simulated examination.

Final Phase

Attempt tests under strict time limits and refine your question-selection strategy.

CDS Previous Year Papers – Why They Matter

Previous-year papers are among the most useful resources for understanding an examination because they show the actual questions asked by UPSC.

They help you identify:

  • Recurring concepts
  • Question difficulty
  • Question framing
  • Subject emphasis
  • Calculation requirements
  • Common distractors
  • Time-consuming question types

The StudyHub course includes 20 Mathematics PYP tests covering listed official papers from 2021 through 2025 in English and Hindi.

Common Mistakes Made by CDS Aspirants

Ignoring One Subject

For IMA/INA/AFA candidates, all three written papers matter.

Preparing Only From Books

Without timed practice, it is difficult to know your actual question-solving speed.

Ignoring Negative Marking

One-third negative marking makes careless attempts costly.

Not Solving Previous-Year Papers

Actual UPSC papers provide a direct understanding of question style.

Taking Tests Without Analysis

A mock score is useful only when you understand what caused the mistakes.

Not Practising Full Papers

Subject knowledge alone does not guarantee that you can perform consistently across an entire timed examination.

UPSC CDS 2026 – Important Examination Information

UPSC conducts the Combined Defence Services Examination twice a year, CDS-I and CDS-II. The current UPSC 2026 schedule lists CDS-I 2026 on 12 April 2026 and CDS-II 2026 on 13 September 2026.

The current CDS-II 2026 notification is for admission to courses commencing in 2027 and lists vacancies for IMA, INA, AFA and OTA. For CDS-II 2026, UPSC has notified 451 tentative vacancies across the listed courses and entries.

Vacancies and other recruitment details can change according to official UPSC/Service Headquarters updates, so candidates should always check the applicable notification.

After the Written Examination – SSB Process

Clearing the CDS written examination is not the final stage of selection. Candidates qualifying in the written examination are called for the Services Selection Board process, which includes the Intelligence and Personality Test. The current CDS-II 2026 notification states that admission to the courses is based on the written examination followed by intelligence and personality testing by the Services Selection Board for candidates who qualify.

Therefore, written-test preparation should be treated as the foundation for the larger CDS selection process.

Why StudyHub CDS Test Series Can Be Part of Your Preparation

The purpose of this course is to give CDS aspirants a practical question-solving environment at an affordable price.

With 53 available test contents, you can create a consistent practice schedule rather than depending entirely on random questions from multiple websites and books. The three major subject mock sections allow focused practice, while the Mathematics PYP section gives you direct exposure to listed previous-year papers.

Use the course alongside your regular study material and previous-year-paper analysis to create a complete written-examination preparation routine.

Final CDS Preparation Strategy

Success in CDS requires a combination of knowledge, speed, accuracy, discipline and repeated practice.

Do not wait until the last week to take your first mock test. Start early enough to discover your weaknesses while you still have time to correct them.

For IMA, INA and AFA, practise English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics consistently. For OTA, concentrate on English and General Knowledge. Solve previous-year papers seriously and use mock tests to improve speed and accuracy.

After every test, ask yourself:

  • How many questions did I get correct?
  • How many did I get wrong?
  • Where did I lose time?
  • Which topics caused repeated mistakes?
  • Which questions did I attempt without sufficient confidence?
  • What should I revise before the next test?

The goal is not simply to complete 53 tests. The goal is to become a stronger CDS candidate because you completed them.
